Mirage

You,
You whom I thought I saw in the distance -
You who were holding out your arms
to me
from a f a r
You are only a figment of my imagination.
I ran lightfooted, eagerly, with anticipation
across the desert,
across miles of sand,
to find myself in thorny embrace.

These tears which I weep into the
silky sands -
vanish as they fall;
Certainly they will be gone by morning.
"I love you" -
Empty words,
empty devoid heartless cold -
And I wish I could
break,
into,
your battle-hardened heart.

The stars in your eyes that dance,
have become glittering tears:
we are silent,
our sorrow does not need words.
